Bottle Description

In 1991, United Distillers (now Diageo) launched a collection of 22 single malt whiskies from its distilleries. Named  “Flora & Fauna” by renowned whisky writer Michael Jackson, this title stuck and the collection of rare whiskies became highly collectable.

Eighteen expressions are from the Speyside region, while there is only 1 Islay, 2 Lowland and 5 Highland.

This Clynelish was distilled in 1982 and bottled in 1997 at cask strength. This is one of the nine rare Flora & Fauna releases bottled at cask strength.

Distillery Information
Destillery logo

The original Clynelish distillery was built in 1819, adjacent to the present Clynelish distillery, which was built in 1967. When Clynelish first started distilling, in the years 1820-1822, they were producing around 12,000 gallons (around 54,000 litres) per year. Over the years the distillery passed from owner to owner, until the distillery expanded around 1896, and was upped to around 580,000 litres.

Clynelish has had a strong connection with Johnnie Walker blended whisky for many years. Around 95% of the spirit is used in Johnnie Walker, most commonly found in the Gold Label Reserve.

All lots can have insurance against breakage or loss during transit added at an additional cost. This is available to add at the checkout at a cost of 4% of the hammer price. Due to the various ages of bottles and their seals, condition of the liquid is at the buyer's discretion and no claim can be lodged against leakage in transit.
